From the Reinstedt family,
Our family is always interested in science, and we love to fossil hunt, road trip to sites that demonstrate the truth of Genesis' account of Creation, do macro photography, and watch rocket's launch. On Sunday night, Oct. 7, our family was blessed to be able to go out to a hill on our property and watch the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base. We have seen multiple launches now from our home in Bryson (north of Lake Nacimiento), but this was by far the most spectacular. We aren't sure if it was because of the low orbit, the atmospheric conditions, or exactly why, but the colors in the sky and the formations of the exhaust were stunning.
It is truly amazing that it was only 115 years ago this December that man took his first 12 seconds of powered flight at Kitty Hawk, and we are now regularly—we could even say routinely—sending rockets into space and recovering them! Here are some pictures that we extracted from video we took. Enjoy!
